WebAug 14, 2024 · For a pistol, broach or button does an equally fine job. The only cut rifled 1911 barrels I am aware of are Lissners. For a 1911, the firring, external barrel dimensions and the heat treat of the barrel are likely more important than the bore quality in the long run. I have seen guns with shot-out barrels shoot 1" at 15 yards. WebJun 2, 2016 · Discussion Starter · #1 · May 27, 2016 Recently purchased a 442 and the rifling appears (for lack of a better description) less distinct or not as sharp as in other S&W revolvers in my collection. The transition from lands to grooves appears much less sharp almost like a button (sp?) rifling.
