Today, I woke it from sleep and the screen size has shrunk, leaving large black bars around all sides of the screen. This makes lower resolutions unusable. I have tried rebooting. Any other setting besides full res causes these bars. Please help! I have also tried reverting the graphics driver.

So you can sort of 'magnify' and fill the display vertically, but you'll still have black bars left and right.
